We invite you to an international expert session, European Semester in Psychology, aimed at psychologists who face challenges related to ageing, dementia, mental well-being of older people and support for their families and carers in their daily work. The meeting will be an opportunity to learn about specific, evidence-based solutions that can be directly applied in clinical, therapeutic, diagnostic and community practice.
The session will discuss, among other things:
- how to understand and assess the functioning of everyday memory in late adulthood and how to distinguish normative changes from clinically significant signals,
- how to effectively counteract loneliness in older people with dementia, including through proven interventions such as cognitive stimulation therapy,
- how professionals' attitudes towards ageing influence the diagnostic process, the therapeutic relationship and the quality of support provided, and how to consciously shape these attitudes in different work contexts.
Participants
Magdalena Zadworna (Poland), Matthias Kliegel (Switzerland), Riccardo Domenicucci (Italy), Elena Carbone (Italy), Erika Borella (Italy), Olga Zamalijeva (Lithuania), Jasminka Despot Lučanin (Croatia)
The session will create a space for practitioners and researchers to exchange experiences, discuss real-life cases and professional challenges, and discuss how to translate European research findings into everyday work with older people. The meeting is aimed at people seeking specific inspiration, tools, and up-to date knowledge to support professional, ethical work in the field of the psychology of ageing.
