Best wishes from EFPA President Sofia Ramalho

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the EFPA Board and the Head Office team, I would like to send my warmest wishes to all EFPA members as we begin 2026. I hope the year ahead brings moments of peace, hope, and connection, both personally and professionally.

At the same time, we remain mindful of the difficult context in which many of our colleagues continue to work. EFPA expresses its continued support and solidarity with our Ukrainian colleagues, who are facing yet another year marked by war. We are also aware of the challenges experienced in other uncertain contexts. As a European psychological community, we remain committed to standing together and contributing to understanding, dialogue, and peace.

The year 2025 was marked by several important developments for EFPA. The European Congress of Psychology ECP 2025 gave us a wonderful opportunity to meet in Paphos, combining work, networking and nice moments together. It included EFPA’s biennial General Assembly, with the election of a new EFPA leadership, the approval of the new EuroPsy Regulations and the EFPA biannual Action Plan, building up on the great work of EFPA workings groups and reinforcing the path paved in recent years towards a more agile, participative, and impactful way of working. We are now working closely with our Serbian colleagues towards a successful ECP 2027!

During the year, EFPA continued to strengthen its voice at the European and international level, with active engagement in public consultations and closer partnerships with other European and international organisations. Our activities were also supported by a strong European Semester programme. I would like to warmly thank the Magyar Pszichologiai Tarsasag (Hungary) for the successful organisation of the European Semester of Psychology. We now look forward to the Polskie Towarzystwo Psychologiczne (Poland) taking over the organisation of the Spring Semester and hosting the EFPA Council in May, and to the Irish Semester with The Psychological Society of Ireland, which will coincide with Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

In 2026, EFPA will continue to work with our members, partners and volunteers to promote the profession and to highlight the important contributions of psychology and psychologists to individuals, communities, and society across Europe and beyond. We look forward to another year of collaboration, knowledge exchange, and shared efforts to strengthen our network, support one another, and advance psychology as a force for understanding, wellbeing, and positive social change.

With kind regards and best wishes for the year ahead,

Sofia Marques Ramalho Ramos Duarte
EFPA President
