Wundt-James Award 2019 winner Prof. Peter Gollwitzer - New York University (USA)

EFPA/APF Wundt-James Award 2019 goes to Prof. Peter Gollwitzer of New York University as a special recognition for distinguished contributions to the science and profession of psychology and to the promotion of effective cooperation between Europe and North America.

The Executive Council of EFPA (European Federation of Psychologists Associations) would like to congratulate Prof. Gollwitzer for being elected to be the winner of the Wilhelm Wundt-William James Award 2019.

The Wilhelm Wundt-William James Award has been established by the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations EFPA and the American Psychological Foundation APF on behalf of late Dr. Raymond Fowler as a special recognition for distinguished contributions to the science and profession of psychology and to the promotion of effective cooperation between Europe and North America.

On behalf of the Wundt-James Award Selection Committee, the chair Prof. Telmo Baptista stated the following :

  • Professor Gollwitzer is a worthy winner of the award because of his significant contributions to different areas of Psychology like unconscious goals, the self, motivation and translational psychology. 
  • Professor Gollwitzer influence is well stated by the impact of his more than 300 articles that put him at as one of the top influencers in Psychology. 
  • The concept of implementation intentions is a major contribute in the promotion of a wide variety of behaviors. 
  • The impact of the work of Prof. Gollwitzer extends beyond the academia to policy making and achieving the public good.
The award will be handed over during the Opening Ceremony of the European Congress of Psychology in Moscow on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 19.00 o’clock (GMT+3)
